Milford Track
54 kms, 4
day walk. The Milford Track can only be
accessed by boat and must be booked in
advance. In addition to the 4 day hike
there is
the option to book a 1 day hike,
returning by boat the same day: Milford
Track Day Walk
guided or independent. Reservations for
the 4 day
hike through: Fiordland
National Park Visitor Centre.
Important
- 4 day hike,
you are required to pick up
tickets prior to departing on the
track. Tickets can be collected
from the Fiordland National
Park Visitor Centre in Te Anau
during the period between 2 days
prior to departure date and up to
11.30am on departure date.
- The track is
closed May through September.
- Not
recommended for children under 10
years of age.
- October and
November walkers. Late snow falls
and/or Spring thaw MAY make parts
of the track impassable or cause
extreme
avalanche danger. This may
necessitate a helicopter trip
over the hazard area. The cost of
the helicopter will be passed
onto
walkers. Please check track
conditions close to departure
date.

Fiordland
National Park is located in the South
Island of New Zealand. The Milford Track
is one of many Great Walks to be explored
from
the hiking-hub towns of Te Anau and
Manapouri. The Department of Conservation
booking office is based in Te Anau.
Getting
There
Departure
point for the Milford Track is at Te Anau
Downs Marina, located 40 minutes drive
north of Te Anau via the the Milford Road.
Independent hikers can park their vehicle
at Te Anau Downs. The Guided Day Walk
includes coach transport and picnic
lunches.

be accessed by boat and boat reservations
must be made in advance.

walk - 12 people max, includes lunch
and coach transport. 4 to 5 hours
of leisurely walking.
Join your guide in Te Anau for the 20
minute coach trip to Te Anau Downs .
From there, it's a 1 hour scenic lake
cruise
to the start of the Milford Track.
The track begins with a 1 km stroll
to historic Glade House for lunch.
Then, across a
swing bridge over the Clinton River
to start the 4 km walk - all at level
ground. Turn around at any point to
return in
time to catch the boat at 5pm. The
walking is easy and relaxed and there
are no big climbs.
